Don’t forget about SEO Whatever You’re Doing Online
I have always been a fan of SEO because it’s one of the cheapest and best methods of driving traffic to your website. The advantage of SEO is that it brings targeted traffic which converts the best. If you have a blog or any kind of website, you definitely have to read something about SEO and do your best to optimize it, so you rank better for the keywords that interest you.
Google is the #1 website in the world and it’s main goal is to drive visitors to the websites that interest them, so you have to make sure you’re making profit of this occasion. Also SEO if not about spamming or begging for links, but it’s based on content and quality links and I’ve been telling you this forever.
There are a lot of bloggers and webmasters who don’t care about SEO and also advise you not to use it and they are letting visitors and money on the table.
I really have some good reasons I’m telling you to consider SEO the most important factor in your marketing strategy. The most important reason is that SEO means conversions and it can’t compare with any social media traffic. Mostly the visitors who come from social media websites just take a look at their website and then leave and believe me, I’ve done tons of tests and research. Also I’ve had over 100 million visits since I started doing this so I’ve had enough material to work with.
There’s been a time when I started a few blogs and I didn’t take full profit out of SEO, because I was getting a lot of traffic from social media websites like Digg, Reddit, StumbleUpon and more. Guess what. My Adsense eCPM was 80% lower on that blogs compared to my other blogs from the same niche. You know what does this mean ? That if I worked on doing better SEO and forgot about the social media websites, I would only need 20% of that traffic to earn the same amount with Google Adsense, because the SEO traffic converts in many ways.
I’m not telling you not to use the social media platforms that drive you traffic right now, because every visitor counts and can convert, though the chances are way lower. Social media is good because it can drive a lot of traffic in a short time and a small percent might actually convert, which is great.
Please let me know how many of you are working on their SEO and what results did you see until now. Also I’m curious how did search engine traffic convert for you in comparison with the social media traffic. I really love your feedback !
The idea for this post came to me from Ileane’s “Ever Consider Blogging Without SEO“
Spot on here Alex. Social media is at its best for building brand awareness, as well as making friends. But for qualified traffic, SEO is still the way to go. Or PPC, if you have the extra cash to spend.
You’re right, though PPC is not suited for any kind of website. For example, I would invest in PPC for this blog
Agreed. Not everyone is suited for PPC. PPC can also be option for small sites/businesses though. But for long term results, it’s always SEO.
Yeah and even if you’re using PPC, you still have to concentrate on SEO.
very much agreed..PPC wil l not work as much compared to SEO..
Exactly. SEO always stays important. It can be the backbone of your business when other marketing efforts won’t work
Yes, it’s definitely the most important source of traffic, along with returning visitors
I agree that SEO traffic is the most valuable one in terms of conversions, attention span, relevance whatever, but don’t forget about the social media benefits for your SEO, which you very well know. A great social media campaign can bring in flocks of backlinks, which become very valuable for any SEO efforts. it’s also the best channel to target for small, up and coming websites with little, if any backlinks. But yeah, SEO rocks and can’t be compared conversion wise.
Of course you don’t have to forget about any traffic source and that’s what I tried to say in this post. A lot of people advise the others to forget about SEO and it’s all wrong. You need to focus on everything that can increase your traffic, exposure and backlinks.
Alex,
I have a lot of friends who don’t understand this concept. People do think SEO is a waste of time. You can tell that when someone says that, they are a noob. SEO in my opinion, is one of the most important things you can do for a website if you actually want buying traffic for that website. This is the thing those people do not understand. Organic traffic buys products and clicks on ads during their first visit. Social traffic needs to be massaged and slowly convinced to make a purchase.
Very true Kathy. One more reason people don’t care about SEO is that they are too lazy to learn how to it and they are also ignorant. And this is good for us, because we have less competition
Hi Alex,
Super post here.
I neglected SEO for a long time, to my detriment. When your SEO is down pat it’s so much easier to drive targeted traffic. By taking the time to craft a keyword-rich post visitors can come to you with little effort. Rather than sitting in front of the computer sending out links all day interested consumers type your keyword into google and come to you. It’s a powerful form of time leveraging.
Thanks for sharing your insight.
Ryan
Hello Ryan,
It’s great that now you realized and starting using it to drive traffic to your websites.
Thanks for your comment. Hopefully I’ll see you over here again soon
I am an “artist”, so I don’t like SEO as others. Of course, the moment I started working on this too, with all my displeasure, I saw some excellent results too.So, even if it’s not something I love doing, SEO work is something vital to get some good traffic.
Why don’t you like it ? I consider SEO to be a really nice challenge that can bring excellent results.
Hey Alex,
I understand the concept of SEO but I’m not sure where to begin in terms of implementing it. Any tips?
Hi Aaron,
The basics are pretty easy and you can easily find them by doing a Google search. You need to have a well structured website, quality content and smart-written titles. After that you need backlinks, which is the hardest part in the SEO.
Concentrate on getting relevant backlinks from trusted websites. Don’t waste your time getting backlinks from web directories or websites that have nothing to do with yours.
How do you approach getting backlinks for your site? Do you just ask people to link back to you? What’s in it for them?
People like to interesting content by themselves, you just need some exposure. Commenting on other blogs is great along with interacting and networking with other bloggers
Hey, this is a tremendously helpful post! Funny, I came over just to make sure I hadn’t missed anything and I come across a really worthwhile post
I’m glad Yong

Hey Nice Weblog! Just curious, how effective is search engine marketing in terms of selling an offline product or service. I see pages all the time that promote an internet primarily based product (e book, amazon.com and many others), but if I want to promote say a tanning salon – is the online an effective approach to do this? Do you know of any examples of this? Anyway, thanks in advance for any help.
It’s very effective and usually is much more effective than selling the specific product offline
